great tips
Every country has its own tradition and rules about what is customary when it comes to tips and gratitude's. In Jamaica, policies on tipping are as varied as meals offered up at restaurants. Generally, there is no standard policy, but Jamaicans are giving people who love 'brawta' (something extra), so it's good practice to reciprocate.
Here are some tips on tipping when eating out in Jamaica:
- Tip 10 - 20% based on the pre-tax total.
Tip 20 - 25% in a fine dining restaurant.
- For wine bars, tip 10% of your total bill,
less if you didn't have vintage.
- If a service charge is already added to your bill,
consider adding a tip if the service is above par.
- Most Jamaican hotels and resorts have a 'no tipping policy'.
It is up to you to abide to it. Although, waiters will not refuse a tip.
